Here it was what I get on my computer directly connected to the dns.

Strangely, if I try the same from a computer behind it, it works properly. I have tried to turn of my firewall, with no luck. I have also tried to disconnect and reconnect (I am using rp-pppoe) with nor esult. What else could I do? I am using Suse 8
First make sure yoru network is up and running. Use ifconfig. You should have lo, local also a eth0 (nic card) and if yoru using dsl ppp0 Check your network address for your ethernet card and also yoru subnet
Everything is fine. .
Try pinging another system locallly and visa versa. If that works try pinging an IP address on the web. If that works ping a domain. Eg yahoo.com. If that doesn't work they your dns config is wrong. That should be a start.
I could access the web from machines masqueraded by that pc. By the way everything is fine now, and names resolve. I did nothing!!! I suppose there was a momentary failure with my ISP and with some names (not all). Praise
