I have a Lexmark Optra E310 printer running under SuSE 8.0. For almost all printing jobs, the combination works flawlessly. The problem arises when I try to print from a StarOffice 6.0 or OpenOffice 1.0 document. I get the yellow error light and the printer refuses to print.
I had no such trouble with SuSE 7.3, OpenOffice or StarOffice and the Lexmark Optra E310 printer.
Is there anything I can do about this problem short of tossing out some part of the offending trio?
Thanks

Telling you that I have a the slightly bigger brother Lexmark Optra E312 working fine with SuSE 8.0, previously with 7.3, and using StarOffice or Openoffice interchangeably probably won't help you solve your problem. So a couple of things to look at or try. I have set the printer up in SuSE as a generic postscript printer. lp printer on the parallel port. I have also in the past connected using it on a USB port. Have you tried SO / OO printer utility "spadmin"? Nothing too specific, mine is set for generic printer (default printer). In your case I suspect this one. You can try the printer drivers from Lexmark. I tried this driver when I first installed the printer, but stopped when I found that the generic postscript driver in SuSE worked fine.
