I have shared the printer via samba (initially set up with SWAT), but I can't find the magic comination of settings. If it matters, I have SMB file sharing working fine, so at least that much of SAMBA is ok.
Please read: /usr/share/doc/packages/cups/README.SuSE from the cups-libs package. I'm pretty sure it will solve your windows->samba->cups printing problem.
For the uninitiated those are: printing = cups print command = /usr/bin/lpr -o raw -P%p -r %s lpq command = /usr/bin/lpstat -o%p lprm command = /usr/bin/cancel %p-%j queuepause command = /usr/bin/disable %p queueresume command = /usr/bin/enable %p load printers = no I tried various combinations of the directives in that file and still nothing works (Win2k gives errors about there being something wrong with the network, which isn't really correct). BTW all those look to me like global settings, and I notice it makes no suggestions about what to put in the [printers] section If _anyone_ has a working CUPS printer shared via samba, and you are able to print to it from Win2k, would you please send me a copy of your smb.conf, or at least the parts relevant to printing. I'm sorry to make such a lame request but I've never been so sutmped by anything :-/ JW
