I have a win2k server that I need access to. Currently I can access it through my Super User File Manager only. I can't put files from Konq as user: Tom. The drive is mounted on my root directory /mnt/win. Could this be the problem?
I want to be able to put, get and work on files from there. Any thoughts?
When you mount the samba share you can give several options to set up the way you want to use it. You can look at "man smbmount" for the complete list. The options in question here are probably uid=<uid of user to own all files and directories> gid=<gid of group to own all files and directories> fmask=<permissions of files on the samba share> dmask=<permissions of directories on the samba share> For example, if you have only user Tom on your machine and that is the only user you want to be able to work as, you could add uid=<uid of user Tom> to the mount options. Or, if you have several users you want to be able to work on the share, you could do gid=<group id of users>, fmask=770, dmask=770 or some variation on the theme. regards Anders
