Hello, I have a HP PhotoSmart P1000 setup on my linux box (parralel prot, not USB) with CUPS. The linx box prints fine. I have shared the printer via samba (initially set up with SWAT), but I can't find the magic comination of settings. If it matters, I have SMB file sharing working fine, so at least that much of SAMBA is ok. When I first tried to print, I would get errors in the WIn2k printer box like "Unable to conect: Access denied". Fishing around with google I saw that 2 thigns seems to fix this problem for people: 1. adding users to smbpasswd, and 2. using use client drivers = Yes. When I tried those two, it did indeed change things, but now what happens is the document shows as Status "printing" on the Windows side, and just sits there forever without actually printing. The CUPS admin tool shows the printer as idle when this is happening. Out of all the logs, I get only the following info which means almost nothing to me, and may or may not be related: /var/log/cups/access_log 127.0.0.1 - - [04/Sep/2002:18:15:36 +0500] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 136 127.0.0.1 - - [04/Sep/2002:18:15:36 +0500] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 136 127.0.0.1 - - [04/Sep/2002:18:15:36 +0500] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 76 127.0.0.1 - - [04/Sep/2002:18:15:36 +0500] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 125 127.0.0.1 - - [04/Sep/2002:18:15:36 +0500] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 125 The CUPS error log and SAMBA logs don't have anything related that I can see. This disconnect is either between Windows and SAMBA, or SAMBA and CUPS. Thanks.
