Are you using the native SuSE kernel, or have you upgraded or changed your kernel in any way? If so, (or even if you haven't) you need to download the NVIDIA_kernel source file (as NVIDIA_kernel-1.xxx.src.rpm or tar.gz) and build them. (Not necessary to do this for NVIDIA_GLX, this can be installed directly as the binary) If you download the src.rpm file, do (as root): rpm --rebuild NVIDIA_kernel-1.xxx.src.rpm This builds and stores the binary rpm in /usr/src/packages/RPMS/i386/ directory. Install that binary, and confirm you have the module NVDriver.o written into /lib/modules/2.4.x/kernel/drivers/video/ directory If you download the tar.gz file, untar , cd to NVIDIA directory and do: make make install (as root) The results are the same with either method. It may also be useful to do "switch2nvidia" and "switch2glx" - SuSE will alter the XConfig automatically. Hope this helps --Rajiv On Monday 02 September 2002 02:17, Thom Nuzum wrote:
Hi, I'm running a Geforce2 ti on Suse8.0 Would like 3d. I have downloaded the correct drivers and also done a yast2 update. I then edited the XF86Config file for device "nvidia" and module "glx" i get a black screen. If someone has NVIDIA running please send me your XF86config info. tried sax2 also but same problem. am i missing a symbolic link perhaps? Thanks
