ls -l|grep "^d"
That is fine :-) ( looks like I need coffee
There may be other ways.
"find" is bloddy slow
So why do I get nothing when I issue 'ls -d'
You do get something. You get the name of the current directory, which will always be '.'
Depends what your brain accepts as the answers as I was focused to get the directory names, anything else was not within my interest and hence I did not get anything. Thanks for shifting my paragidm problem as I can now continue :-) -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
