I have the Suse firewall2 going how can I see if anyone is attacking my system? Or perhaps I should say, failing to attack my system,
take a look at /var/log there are a file called "firewall" if you are using the default configuration of Suse FW2 all packets droped/rejected are logged there ...
They certainly are, but what is the significance of a dropped packet?, I can guess the significance of a rejected packet! cheers
It means that somebody tried to connect to you. And that your firewall is working. You can get the address of who it was from /var/log/firewall. Do with it what you want.
Oh, Thats what I guessed a rejected packet was, therefore not a dropped package. Thanks, so what's the distinctioin, or if its easier where can I look? cheers -- .oOO-Richard-Sheffield-UK-OOo.
