Hi, Have you tried to reinstall the KDE 3.0 packages from the CD with YaST? Regards, Jostein

===== I have a Dell Dimension 8100 with a single P4 CPU. Recently I changed to the standard kernel down from the SMP kernel, which as installed mistakenly by YAST. I changed run level so that I boot into text based instead of GUI. When I select Logout from KDE, I am back in the text mode screen and see on the screen
Waiting for X Server to Shut down
And then nothing happens. It waits and waits and waits. The only way to get it out of this mode is to hit the ENTER key on my keyboard. Only then the computer proceeds and gets me back to the command prompt.
The reason I changed to run level 3 was to try to diagnose the problem. If I use the default run level to boot into GUI, then when I choose logout/Restart or logout/Shutdown from KDE, the computer refuses to shutdown or restart until I press the ENTER key. (It gets out of the GUI mode, gets right into the text based screen and then kinda "hangs" there).
It can be very annoying since most of the times I will forget to hit the key, leave my computer, and come back only to find out that the stupid macine is waiting for me to hit the ENTER key.
This problem only happens if I log into KDE and do something for a bit. If I simply log in and log back out immeidately then I don't see it (although I cannot be sure of this statement 100%)
I had this problem with the SMP kernel and still have it with the standard kernel.
