Hello fellow Susers, As a former red hat user I give Suse fairly good marks..however there is one little peculiarity that haunts me and, pardon me for saying so, the suse database more often than not leaves me wanting more information. Anyway, I have some problems sorting out the configuration files in SuSe. An example, if you install postfix you have postfix config files in /etc/postfix, but there is also a config file in /etc/sysconfig namely the file "postfix", but wait theres more good people, a further search shows me a postfix related config file in /etc/rc.d called "postfix". I understand that YAST uses different config files and in all honesty I'm not entirely sure there isnt another config file having relavance. Does anyone know what the precedence rules are for thes config files and does anyone have a reasonably accessible explanation of why there are these different files. Suse 8.0 worries me in that I'm not always sure what files to make changes to. Any input thankfully accepted Thomas /PS If I've misse an obvious how-to or something the by all means let me know
