Nick,
Thanks for the response. Thanks for the windowmaker tip. Desktop is quite
different.
When I display on the sun monitor from my laptop the resolution I run is:
1280x1024
32bit
75Hz
so I know that it has the capability to display at a high rate. I just need
to get linux to realize it. Any idea how I can tell it?
Alex

Which sparc station? Most of older sparcs have CG-6 or CG-3 frame buffer
(video card) which is only capable of 8-bit color. Sorry.
My best improvement was to use Windowmaker for a window manager which seems
to do a much better job handling the colors. Much quicker response too.

Hi,
I installed suse 7.3 on a sparc station. The display from the sun station to the sun monitor is fine.
Now I use xwin (starnet xwin-32) to connect from my pc to the linux (sun) station but use the Sun monitor for display. I share the sun monitor between my pc and workstation. The display is very poor, looks like its missing colors. X11 config let's me set the res=1280x1024 but only use 8bit for color.
Anyone know how I can improve the display?
Thanks Alex
