yeah here to , for the better part of three days ( and several boxes
<sigh>
I managed to get it done tho, and it was so easy it's scarey, cos it's
the least likely thing to be tried ..
put cd in drive; open a shell ; type sux ... and enter pwrd when
asked... then enter yast2 ( small letters ) and the yast2 control
center comes up... choose patch cd ( yeah < I know I did this too ,
this time it will actually FIND the cd adn begin to list the patches it
thinks relevant AND start Office 6.0 along w/ hte possible variants (
language specific variations)
IF you are in a home net or small "peer" net where there is no central
sever do NOT pick Workstation, but instead choose something like
indiviual installation... It's easy to see which is which, one
obviously is going to be looking for a server for the files !!
selection complete sit back and wait , what seems and eternity for it
to begin loading... But eventually it does and all is well ...
oh yeah, it has two arial fonts this time, AND the Helvetica , adn most
others look reasonabley decent on the screen.... this is a big step up
from 5.2
oh yeah, one other thing.. there is an option NOT to use any java this
time... I didn't have time to try it , and it at least found the java
installed w/ the base Suse install .. I'd love to know, from any brave
soul who has or does do it w/o java if it's any quicker on startup.
THat seems awfully slow, but then again , I've not configured it yet...
HAving more fun now than earlier todya <VBG>
