# I have the Liteon 16x DVD and the Liteon 24x CDR burner, works fine. (SuSE
# 8.0, kde3.02, Thunderbird1.4GHz.)
#
# DVDs work best for me with the command line util from videolan "vlc":
# for DVDs: vlc --volume 1500 dvd:/dev/dvd
# for VCDs: vlc --volume 500 vcd:/dev/dvd
# the kde gui for videolan did not compile, but despite the error the command
# line util did install fine.
#
# Ogle does dot play smoth, it stocks too often too enjoy. It is a pity, it
# shows the subtitles etc, vlc does not.
#
# The cdr burning and the setup for it was easy with K3B, the rpm is on SuSEs
# ftp at kde apps. Copies VCDs in raw modus without any problems, using the
# generic raw driver, for normal data the regular generic driver.
xine is the only way to go. Plays almost like in Windoze, except the screen with menu choices does not read the mouse click to start feature, view scenes, extras, etc. I have found that once I determine which file begins the feature it will play the whole thing. Otherwise, it will play through the whole DVD in the order of the files listed in the MRL.
