I've just installed Suse 8 after finally getting tired of the useless support from Caldera (Workstation 3.11). So far I am very impressed with Suse
Just a couple of questions
1. I'm dualbooting with Win2000, and I have three NTFS partitions, If I want only certain users to get access the partitions, do I create a new group and then modify the fstab file so that only that group has access to the partitions
You might want reading the docs about mount. But what I would do is: change permissions of mountpoint. If they do not have the right permissions they cannot mount it. I do not know if there is any better solution.
2. Is there a site/document somewhere where I can read up on setting up Sendmail (or whatever the MTA is for Suse) to configure it for home use.
For home use, I suggest postfix. Sendmail is much harder to use.
It's not that hard. The default SuSE sendmail.cf is sufficient for most. The linux.mc is quite well commented, and generating a sendmail.cf file from that is as easy as "m4 < linux.mc > ../sendmail.cf"
3. Is there a program that can create slideshows of .jpeg files that I can install?
does Konqueror not do that?
KView, Xv, probably some gnome programs as well...
4. What can I use to play my DVD's?
Xine or mplayer.
Give ogle a shot :)
