I saw this problem (or something similar) where it would keep writing the localhost IP into /etc/hosts. What I did was the following: - Opened YAST2 - Opened the configuration screen for my network card - Clicked on "Static address setup and entered the IP address that DHCP had assigned - Clicked on "Automatic address setup (via DHCP) - Saved the configuration ("Next, Finish, etc.) I'm not sure why this worked, but the DHCP assigned address was not overwritten in /etc/hosts anymore. Hope that helps! (I have another DHCP problem which I'll be posting shortly! :) Mike --------------------------------------- Cleary_Mike@emc.com --------------------------------------- Sure women come with instructions, just ask one. -----Original Message----- From: Prengel, Ralf [mailto:ralf.prengel@comline.de] Sent: Friday, July 26, 2002 6:23 AM To: 'suse-linux-e@suse.com' Subject: [SLE] Problem with dhcp and name in hosts The problem: Booting a system in runlevel 5 works fine but booting the same system in runlevel causes problems because an wrong ip-adresse is written in /etc/hosts.
