Flushed w/ success after getting Yast2 to properly recognize my CDRW, I performed an online update. Not paying close enough attention, I let it update the Nvidia drivers. After a reboot, X was hosed. I cannot load glx or the nvidia module. I can only get X to start if I choose the nv module and no glx. I tried uninstalling and then rebuilding from the source rpms but no go. I suspect it may have to do w/ the "switch2nvidia_glx" script messing up the links (one of the XF86Configs I looked at makes reference to this script). Unless someone has a quicker/better idea, I think my next step is to build from the source files. I haven't had problems w/ nvidia drivers in a long time, so any other suggestions would be appreciated.
