Hi Scott,
just a tip at the start. In the future, it would be best to split
mails, one for each problem. That makes it easier to deal with a
problem.

Recent convert from Redhat 7.3 and am anxious to give SuSE a try, but am having problems. I cannot boot her up without using the boot install cd. I have to go through all the installation hoops and choose basic installation/upgrade and then choose boot installed system and it boots without a problem.
How did you install SuSE, how's your disk(s) partitioned (what does 'fdisk -l' say), where did you install Lilo and how is Lilo configured (what does /etc/lilo.conf look like).
Once I get into SuSE 8.0, I cannot connect to the internet. I downloaded from the ftp site without problem.
If you can download from the ftp site, you *are* connected to the internet, so I don't quite understand your question.
but I cannot get my intel etherpro 100 built in card to work with DHCP
I get an error with the intel card stating ifdown: Could not get a valid interface name and ifup: Could not get a valid interface name.
How did you configure the network card?
should I redownload and use manual install, or are both of these problems fixable within my current installation?
No, those problems should be solvable without a reinstall.
nor get my Orinoco built in wireless to work.
There is an update available for PCMCIA handling. Philipp -- Philipp Thomas work: pthomas@suse.de Development SuSE Linux AG private: philippt@t-online.de
