Recent convert from Redhat 7.3 and am anxious to give SuSE a try, but am having problems. I cannot boot her up without using the boot install cd. I have to go through all the installation hoops and choose basic installation/upgrade and then choose boot installed system and it boots without a problem. However, if I boot from floppy or from Lilo, it will not boot, but after the "Loading Linux . . . . . ." comes up, it goes to a blank screen and halts. Once I get into SuSE 8.0, I cannot connect to the internet. I downloaded from the ftp site without problem but I cannot get my intel etherpro 100 built in card to work with DHCP nor get my Orinoco built in wireless to work. I get an error with the intel card stating ifdown: Could not get a valid interface name and ifup: Could not get a valid interface name. When I did my ftp install, I chose the default installation settings, should I redownload and use manual install, or are both of these problems fixable within my current installation? I'd hate to go back to Redhat if I don't have to. I like what I hear about SuSE so much better, but at least with Redhat, my hardware works. Let me know if you can offer any help! Linuxnewbie, Scott
