Hi all: I recently purchased and installed v8 and I am very impressed. Hear is my question. I am a single user on my home computer and would like to set it up so I can drag and drop files to or from my floppy or cdrom without all the mount , unmount stuff. That is the only thing I have found to be unuser freindly with this distro. YaST rocks. I have also asked support but I understand that may take a while so maybe someone here could help in the meantime.
Welcome to 8.0, hope you enjoy it as much as I have so far. Actually every OS has to mount & unmount drives, disks, etc. so Linux is no different except it gives you control over it not the OS. Where Linux excels is that if the disc is odd or corrupt, you can still get away from it, whereas other OS's may just crash. If I am not mistaken and one of the more knowledgeable guys here can tell you, you can setup the cdrom & floppy to automount. I think you still have to unmount them
You can set up any drive to automount with the automount package installed and configured, though the floppy and cdrom are more common. They autounmount as well, after so many seconds (forgot how many) of inactivity. I have even set up samba shares that automount. -- Joe & Sesil Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM.
