Hello SuSE folkz,
Does somebody know any method/utility to convert scanned text into editable text file in Linux. I know such software exists in Winblows world e.g. TextBridge. Do we have something similar or better in Linux?
Thanks. Alex
Hi Alex, There are presently two OCR Open Source programs available. GOCR - http://jocr.sourceforge.net/ Works to some degree - will have to correct quite a lot of mistakes. Not in the same league as TextBridge Clara OCR - http://www.claraocr.org/ Work in progress - Mainly designed for books and manuscripts. Both of the above programs are on the SuSE 8.0 Other option is Vividata OCR Shop - ( commercial software but has a free trial period.) http://www.vividata.com/ Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
