For more info. I have tried to follow the advice given at:
http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/thallma_dsl_80.html
entitled Network Problems After Configuring DSL
Symptom
Your network cards have been properly set up and
integrated. However, after setting up the DSL access, chaos seems to
reign
among the network cards.
Cause
The DSL device (<TT>dsl0</TT>) is initialized before the
network device (<TT>ethx</TT>) and the driver for the corresponding
network card is loaded during the initialization of DSL. Therefore, the
load process cannot take place with <TT>ethx</TT> and it reports the error
message <TT>failed</TT>.
<H3>Solution</H3>A fixed initialization script that changes the order
is already available and can be installed with the package:
Sounds like my problem. I downloaded the patch installed it and rebooted as
it instructed. Same problem. When I restart my network I see the following:
linux:~ # /etc/init.d/network restart
Shutting down network interfaces:
dsl0 done
eth0 done
Setting up network interfaces:
lo done
eth0 failed
dsl0 skipped
INFO: Dont worry about skipped interfaces; they will be set up
dynamically by service pcmcia, hotplug or when dialing.
AAAAAARRRRRGGGG.
Can ANyone help?
