-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi Christopher and Thorsten, I can't find the original message, it probably was purged when I lost my inbox in February. :-( Anyway, I did find some messages on the subject that seem to somewhat infer licensing fees. http://www.netsys.com/suse-linux-e/2002/03/msg01707.html http://www.netsys.com/suse-linux-e/2002/05/msg04217.html This one seems to indicate only charges for support, but also sounds like a per-seat license. http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1104-860274.html Anyway, I suspect the original message I received (that I can't find) probably meant the same thing. Not that it requires a license, but simply needs one for support (a very reasonable thing). Since I do not have the message I can't really comment on how it was stated, so I will assume I misunderstood the message. If that was the case, I do apologize for my misunderstanding. Then you know more then anybody else. Can you explain me, where SLES has a per-seat licensing? SuSE does not have per-seat licenses and we don't plan to introduce one for our SLES powerd by UnitedLinux.
Well, that is what I had been told by a SuSE employee a few months ago after ZDNet did an article on SuSE and per-seat licensing (as well as IA-64). If that information I received is not correct, then I apologize.
Who was this? The current status is, that you can install a SLES as on many machines as you like, but you will only get support and maintenance for one machine.
Thorsten
