I want to install SuSE on an old harddrive, but it contains some bad sectors. Is it possible to scan for those like scandisk does when you install Windows?
It is not necessary ! When Suse creates the partition an mount it, this process is automaticaly done ! use raiser as partition format instead ext2, because it is more eficient in the bad cluster relocation then others ...

I just installed SuSE and I didn't notice at all there were any bad blocks on the drive. Everything works great indeed. I got lots of errors with the harddrive when installed I LindowsOS on it some time ago, the first preview used XFS instead of Reiser, so that must have been the problem.
