Hi, I have a riva tnt running on a SuSe 8. I installed all drivers from nvidia. All is working, but I find that at 2D aplication, like a midnight commander console, the refresh is to slow. Another side, at X startup, take too long until the envidia logo, it seems that the driver try to find out the best video mode (moitor flashes and XFree log messages), but I only have one mode defined on the XF86Config file. Is there some configuratión that I missing? Carlos On Wed 10 Jul 2002 16:56, Diffuze wrote:

However, the X server setup issue is still unsolved. I can use the framebuffer server and log in. But the system hangs as soon as I start sax2 for configuration. I havve an nVidia GeForce3 graphic card. (I installed the nVidia kernel and modules with YOU). Does anyone know how I can solve that problem?
Thanks,

I have a Geforc3 card and it works like a charm in SuSE 7.3. You need to install NVIDIAS *OWN* rpms for the Geforce card. NOT the rpms shipped with SusE. Get them at http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=linux Note that you need both NVIDIA_GLX *and* NVIDIA_kernel. They are both available from the above download link. There are SuSE 8.0 rpms for both files.
Install the rpms and try to run sax2 again. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
Hope this helps.
