James, Did you get an answer to this yet? If not, it might help to know that Win2K backup is a stripped down version of Veritas Backup Exec. You might want to look at Veritas's website and see if Veritas NetBackup can read Backup Exec backups. FYI: NetBackup is multi-platform. Backup Exec in ia32 only AFAIK. Greg

I'm aware that Linux supports DLT and that there are several programs that can do backup & restore etc. but are there any that can read standard (Win2K) backup tapes and blat the files back down onto a Linux partition?
