How do I stop the following messages from popping up in /var/log/messages:
Jul 8 13:00:17 webserver modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module binfmt-0050 Jul 8 13:00:17 webserver modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module binfmt-0050
I looked in /etc/modules.conf, but did NOT find anything, can someone help?
Read /usr/src/linux/Documentation/binfmt_misc.txt. Basically binfmt_misc is a way of executing non-elf programs automatically. ie. start dosemu or wine for dos or windows programs. Personally, I don't care for the idea. Excerpt: You can enable/disable binfmt_misc or one binary type by echoing 0 (to disable) or 1 (to enable) to /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/status or /proc/.../the_name. Catting the file tells you the current status of binfmt_misc/the entry. So maybe try : echo '0' > /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/binfmt_0050 or disable it completely: echo '0' > /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/status -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
