Hi. In Konq. I can tell it to look via the proxy. How do I do that in YOU? Thanks, Steve.
In YaST Control Center go to "System" Then "Sysconfig Editor". There are several options under "Config options" click the "+" plus sign next to "Network" then click on Proxy. I have this setup at work, and it works well. I can't remember off hand if you have to type in the whole "HTTP_PROXY:"http://proxyaddress:port"" or if you just type in the "http://proxyaddress:port" part. Play with it both ways. You may have to restart the networking daemons for them to pick up the change I can't remember. I think I had to restart KDE & Xserver. Someone with more knowledge could enlighten you on that, but this should get you started.
I am having a problem with this. Konq ftp is working fine to my Wingate server on my gateway machine, but nothing I put in the FTP_PROXY makes YOU access the server.
What do I put as the name of the server to try http access. Or alternatively, if I download the relevent files on the server, how do I get the YOU hard disk option to work?
OK two steps forward, but still no updates. Have set proxy in wgetrc, and now the list of servers is updated quite happily. If I select HTTP in the YOU 'expert' popup, then the request appears on the server, and fails quickly, but FTP requests do not appear at the server, and eventually time out. This is a clean new install of 8.0 on a machine that I wipped XP from because that gave me 'Blue screen of death failures'. Everything is working fine apart from this niggle, and it would be nice to apply a few security updates <g> -- Lester Caine ----------------------------- L.S.Caine Electronic Services
