Output from "rpm -qf $(which info)" on my 7.3 system: texinfo-4.0-282
Thank you, that helped. Do you know of any way to have rpm search the installation medium as in my case, when it's about an uninstalled package?
In THIS case: pin $(rpm -qf $(which info))
For other packages: pin "portion of package name" (without the "s)
'man pin' says:
DESCRIPTION Pin searches the installed packages (rpm -qi, -ql) and/or the ARCHIVES.gz file for the desired informa tion. It shows also README, README.SuSE, FAQ, when available.
Notice the use of the word 'installed'. Thank you for your answer.
Best regards, David List
ARCHIVES.gz holds the names of all of the packages present on the SuSE cd's. 'pin' will query ARCHIVES.gs and tell you which disk and the full package name of the package you are searching for. The suggestions I presented are usable and correct in your situation. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org
