SUMMARY: I would like to sync Evolution with my Palm device. Evolution wants GNOME-pilot, which is not included with SuSE 8.0. Q1: Where do I get gnome-pilot if indeed I need it? Q2: Else, how do I set up Evolution to sync with my Palm device w/o gnome-pilot? DETAILS: I'm trying out evolution-1.0.2-55 on my [basically stock] SuSE Linux 8.0 system. When I click on the submenu "Tools => Pilot Settings", I get the error popup: "The GNOME pilot tools do not appear to be installed on this system." Looking about my system validates this assertion. Also, I can not find the gnome-pilot tools anywhere on the DVD/CD-R set nor on the FTP dist of SuSE 8.0. The pilot-link stuff is there, but no gnome-pilot in sight. Ok, the obvious question: Where do I get it? Also, why is it not included in the SuSE 8.0 dist? BTW, I do notice that gnome-pilot is on the Ximian ftp site. Is that the one to use? What are others doing? Someone's gotta be using Evolution as their Palm Desktop replacement! It -is- very nice to look at! (i.e., it does have a very nice UI). For me, right now, the -only- value to Evolution is as my PIM (Palm m505 in my case) manager. If I can't sync with my palm, that that value is zero, null, nada, nil, zip. (BTW, I've never used MS Outlook which is, as claimed, the model for Evolution, so I don't know what else to expect from Evolution). Note: I generally stay away from Ximian stuff after having been repeatedly burned by it on my SuSE installations. Also, I find the SuSE GNOME releases to be much better integrated with the system and more stable. I'd prefer a SuSE solution, otherwise I'm willing to roll my own if I -have- to. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks! Phil -- Philip Amadeo Saeli SuSE Linux 8.0 psaeli@zorodyne.com
