Are dual heads still supported under SuSE 8.0
Sure.
and is this very hard to configure?
I would say no, but I guess it depends
I have two like video cards and two like displays and want to configure two screens.
If the cards/monitors are similar it should be a breeze. I used to have two Matrox cards (millenium I/II) and sax2 picked 'em right up. Later I changed one of them with a nVidia (leadtek Vanta) and subsequently had to jump through some hoops, but all in all there shouldn't be insurmountable problems. What I usually do is: Let sax2 do it's thing, and then tweak XF86Config afterwards. In 7.3 I *had* to do it like that, 'cause sax2 wouldn't configure the Xinerama bit. With 8.0 I did the same thing, but I suspect that I could've just let sax2 handle everything... At this point I have a 15" and a 17" monitor, an in order to not have an inaccessible area of the desktop, I rotated the 15" a quarter turn, so that it sits on the side. Refresh is slow, but I like it better than the alternative... Dual head is nice :)
Much thanks for any info.
Sure. My pleasure :) hth Jon Clausen
