# My ISP is Wanadoo (Paris).
# If you have a standard SuSE8 installation, you ***must first*** install:
# auto config, build and make from Develop\Tools\Building as well as
# gcc from Develop\Languages\C and C++
# Download speedtouch-1.1 -- I used speedtouch-1.1rc2
tar -xvzf speedtouch-1.1rc2.tar.gz.tar
#
cd speedtouch-1.1rc2
#
./configure && make
#
./make install
Modify 4 files : options, adsl, chap-secrets and modules.conf
I am using le modem avec le SpeedTouch firmware: alcaudsl.sys to initialize
the modem because (I am also using Win2000)
Works great!

I have downloaded the speedmgmt package from alcatel's site and have installed it in /root/mgmt .I have followed all other instructions as given by Suse in their knowledge database and have configured my bt adsl settings via yast2. Will I just need to invoke the /etc/hotplug/usb/speedtouch script in order to be able to connect or do I need to do something else as well? I will be sharing a friend's bt adsl line and need to know how to make this work in linux in hope of persuading him to install linux and of course to be able to upgrade kde3 ;-)
Thanks,
Josef
