Hi All, I have some problems with CD writing on SuSE 8.0. I have an internal HP CD Writer 7500 Plus. It has been working fine (and still is) under RedHat. Now I have the machine with dual-boot SuSE 8.0 and the original RH 7.2 When I write a CD under SuSE, the machine freeze at some stage. Sometimes ist is right at the beginning, other times it is later on, after it has been busy for a while. Normally the keyboard lights will start to flash, and the HDD light stays on. Then everything freeze. I have to switch the machine off. I have the latest patches for cdrecord, cdda2wav, imlib and xcdroast installed. Could this be some settings with the ide-scsi emulation? I noted that in the fstab file, /media/cdrom is mounted to /dev/cdrom (which is /dev/hdd) and /media/cdredorder is mounted to /dev/cdrecorder (/dev/sr0) I changed the media/cdrom to also mount on /dev/cdrecorder Could this be the problem? That /dev/hdd and /dev/sr0 is used? (under RH my modules.conf files states to ignore hdd) I will test later again with this when I have time. Here is the relevant entries of my RH modules.conf file. I see that SuSE use a slightly different format - using char_major aliases for everything. I don't understand this yet, so I don't know if and how to change my modules.conf file. --<snip>-- options ide-cd ignore=hdd # tell the ide-cd module to ignore hdd alias scd0 sg pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi # load ide-scsi before sg --<snip>-- Will it help to add this options file into my SuSE modules.conf file?
