Try swat -> status This gives the version, though I do not know where it gets the version from! Peter On Friday 24 May 2002 1:38 pm, you wrote:
Hello list.
I have a question about samba. I am using Suse Linux 7.0 professional ( I know it is old in Suse terms but it is good for test driving). I have set up an experimental server on the school district Windows NT based network. We have been able to access shared folders from both Windows and Mac clients (latest available offering of netatalk installed) along with sharing printers using a demo version of ESP Print Pro v4.2.2 (pretty slick code I might say). All is well except for printing to Mita (Kyocera) printers from Mac clients on the printing side. Anyway, I down loaded Samba 2.2.4 and followed the HTML install instructions. I am wondering how to determine if the newer version of Samba is running. Testparm indicates "server string = 2.0.7" in a dump of service definitions. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.
