I did run into a strange problem though. When I rebooted I got a kernel panic because it was unable to mount the FS. When I rebooted, I noticed some errors that said something to the effect of "unable to load modules xxxxxxxx" (one of which was for the Reiser FS). The explanation was "module not found". I double-checked and the modules were compiled in there corretly. Finally, I just set it up to include the modules in question fully instead of as modules. It works now, but I still get those errors. It is very strange.
So you did the compilation with: make menuconfig make dep make clean make bzImage make dep clean bzImage make modules make bzlilo make modules_install ... in your /lib/modules/ you may have modules that are in your actuall kernel configuration no longer compiled as modules ... but the modules are still there ... so delete them or move them out of this folder ... by the way ... if you think your self-kernel is not working install the SuSE-kernel with yast again ... so you get the default kernel ... and try to find out if your kernel really does not fit your demands ... maybe there is another way to get your things working Oliver -- ... don't touch the bang-bang fruit ...
