Anders & List, Yes! Deleting the .inbox.index file worked. Now I have to keep my eyes open to discover just how KMail gets "Confused" so that I can make an intelligent bug report. PeterB Anders Johansson wrote:

Dear List,
KMail on SuSE 8.0 is eating my email! When I open KMail, it displays a line per email that is in my in-box; the line lists "Subject" "Sender" etc. But when I click on a line it changes to "No Subject" and the content window below is empty!! I don't want to loose valuable emails; what can I do?
Does it happen for all folders? Did you try rebuilding the indexes? go into your Mail directory and delete any .*.index files there. Then start kmail.
I doubt very much the mail gets "eaten". In your ~/Mail directory you should have all your mail as plain text, whether kmail can read them or not.
Can anyone help me with this problem? Is there another more reliable email client?
KMail has been working very well for me for a couple of years now. I'd say it's as stable as any client out there.
