OK, this is the part I haven't done. According to SuSE 7.3 Pro documentation, this should work by default, I am after all the only one using the SuSE box AND I will be the only one using the netatalk connection. but if I have to do it manually, I will need help as I am a still a Linux newbie. I have read the documentation as well as the afpd.conf file and I simply don't get it :-( As far as I can see, there are two issues that I will need to deal with if I have to manually configure: 1) user, and 2) shared directories. That is about as far as my comprehension on this issue goes. Can you walk me through it? Also, is there a netatalk client that will enable me to access the PB from my SuSE box?
If you need an "easy way" to configure netatalk, try webmin www.webmin.com the module to configure netatalk is not default, then you must install then after http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/netatalk/netatalk.wbm when you run webmin, go to webmin config =>modules =>instal module from uploaded file and chose the folder you are downloaded the module after the instalation you will setup then .... in suse 7.0 ~ 7.3 is : Atalk ini script = /etc/initd/atalk path to atalkd = /usr/sbin/atalkd path to papd = /usr/sbin/papd path to afpd = /usr/sbin/afpd path to Apple Volumes.default =/etc/atalk/AppleVolumes.default path to Apple Volumes.system = /etc/atalk/AppleVolumes.system path to afpd.conf = /etc/atalk/afpd.conf path to atalkd.conf = /etc/atalk/atalkd.conf path to papd.conf = /etc/atalk/papd.conf path to netatalk.pamd = /etc/pam.d/netatalk path to NLS folder = /etc/atalk/nls Then save it, now configuration is easy ! a last note, by default, the file generated Suse enable only the folder "home" of user to share, with this module you can setup any folder to share, but the rights to access this folder MUST be set separetly, in the module other => file mananger and then select the folder that you want to share in the right windows and select the fuction "info", then set "group" to "read" "write" and in the guide "apply changes to" select "This directory and all subdirectories" . Finaly, the user that are creating this SHARED folder MUST be the same as you create the user to user in autentication of you PB .... I hope this is enough to you, if not, return here ok ?
