I am preparing to install netatalk on my system and want to configure my second Ethernet card with YAST 2 (SuSE 7.3 Pro). This card will be used for local network only, so that my PB 1400 can connect to my SuSE box. In all Mac documentation I have seen, it is recommended that IP addresses be in the 169.x.y range, where x and y are numbers between 0 and 255. Furthermore, subnet masks are recommended to be 255.255.0.0 When I try to use an IP address of 169.254.101.1, YAST 2 will not accept it. Should I follow the info in the side bar and try something in the 192.168.x..y range? Will this work with Macs connecting via netatalk? I am not going to install the netatalk package before I get this straightened out and therefore don't have the documentation yet. Besides, experience is often a better guide than man pages, imho. Cheers, Brian
