Razvan,
I had no trouble with 7.3 or 8.0 on my M700. What I did was let it
install what it wanted, I used LCD generic I believe, then tweaked it
using Sax2 after completing the install. I think I also used a generic
ATI instead of the mobility. Not at that laptop right now -- it's at
home. All went well. YMMV, HTH

Hello all, I am trying to get suse running on a CPQ Armada e500s (video ATI Rage Mobility-p 8MB), which is both in the suse certified hardware list and on linuxonlaptops at the "success stories" category, so I guess it MUST work somehow... The problem is that x 4.2 only works with the vesafb driver and the image only uses a little more than half of the screen (which is VERY annoying), and with 3.3.6 Yast detects everything just fine, but when I try to fire it up it well.. goes on fire :) What I mean is that the screen goes white but not at once, it starts from a spot and spreads on the whole screen with very cute red borders. That is really funny, but not very productive ;) What on earth could cause that? There can't be a hardware issue, I also have windows on it and it behaves. ANY hints would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
