Fabio, Okay, thank you for answering so quickly. I will try it. And thank you for the words of encouragement as well. Neal McDermott On Saturday 04 May 2002 20:28, Fábio Rabelo wrote:
I am trying to configure this Umax Astra 1220U usb scanner for SuSE Personal Edition 8.0 with yast2.
It recognizes the scanner, and the scanner is supported under the version of Sane that comes with 8.0 (1.0.7-59)
It gives me the option to select which driver to use, so I select Generic because I see no listing for Umax.
Under Generic there are two selection options for my scanner:
1. Umax
probably is this one !
2. Umax-pp
again, probaly the "pp" means "paralell port" , and you tell that your scanner is USB no Paralel ( printer ) Port all right ??
However there is a warning on the sidebar that says only to choose if you are sure since choosing the wrong one could damage the hardware.
I have gone to the Sane site, and although it does say that this particular scanner is supported, it does not say which of these two drivers I should use, or at least I can't find it if it does.
Anyone got any ideas?
Almost forgot to mention, I am a Linux rookie, so go slow for me.
