OK, here's the situation... I have a Toshiba CDT4010 that I have installed SuSE8.0 on. The install went fairly well. The PCMCIA network card would not work until I figured out what driver I needed to start up the card. A few other minor bumps... nothing serious or unsolveable... except sound. The laptop has a Yamaha OPL3-SA3 (Soundblaster compat) soundcard. SuSE8 is not able to autodetect it. If I go in through YaST and try to config the card as a Yamaha OPL3 it chokes and tells me that there is some sort of error. I could manually set it up if I knew what the IRQ and various addresses are. I have done some research, and the common settings other people have used seem to be: OPL3 driver port #=0x370 WSS port#=0x530 irq=5 dma 1=1 dma 2=0 midi port#=0x330 sb port#=0x220 fm port#=0x388 I have tried these in the manual setup and just get an error that the config failed. So... any suggestions for ways to find out what the hardware config for the sound card actually is? Or some suggestions for how to turn on the sound card? Is there some sort of sysinfo program I could use to look at the card - I used to have a MS DOS sysinfo program that would do this and give you a nice report of everything you wanted to know. Now... nothing. C.
