Hi,all I have a network problem. I have been on the phone (I type this still on the phone) with Suse customer support for 79 minutes.
HELP!!
In 7.2 my 3 machine network used a gateway server to connect to the internet, with masq and forwarding. Its entry in rc.config was this:
IParameters for ifconfig, simply enter "bootp" or "dhcpclient" to use the # respective service for configuration. # Sample entry for ethernet: # IFCONFIG_0="192.168.81.38 broadcast 192.168.81.63 netmask 255.255.255.224"
IFCONFIG_0="dhcpclient" IFCONFIG_1="" IFCONFIG_2="192.168.0.99 dynamic pointopoint 192.168.0.1 up" IFCONFIG_3=""
NAMESERVER="192.168.10.1"
I have now set up my notebook with Suse 8. I went into Yast 2 and entered the following:
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 ( i also tried ~.0.99 and ~.0.1) Static address (of the notebook) 192.168.10.3 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Host name: Linux (my notebook name) ALSO I checked change name via dhcp ) Name server list: 192.168.10.1 Domain - nickselby.de (this worked under Suse 7.2
When I ping localhost it's no problem.
When I ping ANYTHING else, I get network unreachable.
I've turned off the firewall completely. (notice to crackers, I guess)
Please can someone help?

What is the ip address of your gateway?
Interesting point. I think it's 192.168.10.1 but the info above also has ~0.99 which confuses me. I did NOT set up the masq on the gateway. ? NIck
