Should a journaling file system be mounted with the nocheck option? Normally I would suspect that the journaling feature would cause the automatic recovery of the file system upon mounting. It appears that SuSE does not add the nocheck option by default (at least in 7.3) to the fstab for ext3. I would be inclined to inhibit fsck altogether on a journaling file system. Certainly, if for some reason the file system were damaged and the journal was not able to repair that file, fsck would be appropriate.
