There are actually some issues around the patch Love and Andrew Morton have
made on SMP systems, SuSE generally includes all the -aa patchs from Adrea
Arcangelli, and you should see generally better performance over mainline
or -ac patches. I have seen 30-45% improvement in I/O with the
combination -aa and ReiserFS in 2.4.19, comparred to RH 7.2 or Adv Server.
Most of the Scheduler and real I/O benefits will show up in 2.6, development
in process :~)
