Hmm... I didn't have any problems with RC3 installing on SuSE 7.3. Perhaps if you gave us a little more info on the actual message we might be able to help. I would really suggest holding off for 3.0 official RPMs. I just installed this last night when you mentioned you had problems and I have a test system I enjoy breaking ;-). Or perhaps reinstall the RPMs you originally had and modify the startkde file in /opt/kde3/bin. On Thursday 28 March 2002 10:32 pm, Anthony W. Marino wrote:
Thanks Anthony. In the interim, I went to kde.org and downloaded/installed their SuSE rpms rc3b3 which work pretty well. The only problem was that I couldn't install the "kdeedu3-3..." rpm and received a msg with regards to something to do with "PREIN" ????

The problem with DCOP server is caused by missing entries in the startkde file. Below is a patch that should fix your startkde file to make KDE3 work again. Good luck. Oh and sorry about this not threading correctly, I lost the original email and pulled the subject off the SuSE web site.
