Hello everybody, Is anybody using amanda shipped in SuSE 7.3? I bumped into a strange problem. I need to backup a share from Windows machine. This functionality is supported in amanda when it is built with smbclient option. An attempt to use amanda to backup Windows share produces an error: Amanda 2.4 REP HANDLE 000-48AF0708 SEQ 1013930250 OPTIONS ; ERROR [This client is not configured for samba: //winmachine/bkpshare] Debug info from amandad: amandad: build: VERSION="Amanda-2.4.2p2" amandad: BUILT_DATE="Mon Sep 24 16:26:37 GMT 2001" amandad: BUILT_MACH="Linux You 2.4.9 #1 SMP Tue Sep 4 16:42:18 CEST 2001 i686 unknown" amandad: CC="gcc" amandad: paths: bindir="/usr/bin" sbindir="/usr/sbin" amandad: libexecdir="/usr/lib/amanda" mandir="/usr/share/man" amandad: AMANDA_TMPDIR="/tmp/amanda" AMANDA_DBGDIR="/tmp/amanda" amandad: CONFIG_DIR="/etc/amanda" DEV_PREFIX="/dev/" amandad: RDEV_PREFIX="/dev/" DUMP="/sbin/dump" amandad: RESTORE="/sbin/restore" GNUTAR="/bin/tar" amandad: COMPRESS_PATH="/usr/bin/gzip" amandad: UNCOMPRESS_PATH="/usr/bin/gzip" MAILER="/usr/bin/Mail" amandad: listed_incr_dir="/var/lib/amanda/gnutar-lists" amandad: defs: DEFAULT_SERVER="localhost" DEFAULT_CONFIG="DailySet1" amandad: DEFAULT_TAPE_SERVER="localhost" amandad: DEFAULT_TAPE_DEVICE="/dev/null" HAVE_MMAP HAVE_SYSVSHM amandad: LOCKING=POSIX_FCNTL SETPGRP_VOID DEBUG_CODE amandad: AMANDA_DEBUG_DAYS=4 BSD_SECURITY USE_AMANDAHOSTS amandad: CLIENT_LOGIN="amanda" FORCE_USERID HAVE_GZIP amandad: COMPRESS_SUFFIX=".gz" COMPRESS_FAST_OPT="--fast" amandad: COMPRESS_BEST_OPT="--best" UNCOMPRESS_OPT="-dc" As you see, SAMBA_CLIENT is missing in defs. I look then into spec file in the amanda source RPM. %build section contains: ./configure --mandir=%{_mandir} \ --prefix=%{prefix} \ --infodir=%{_infodir} \ --sysconfdir=%{sysconfdir} \ --libexecdir=%{prefix}/lib/amanda \ --localstatedir=/var/lib \ --with-index-server=localhost \ --with-gnutar-listdir=/var/lib/amanda/gnutar-lists \ --with-smbclient=%{prefix}/bin/smbclient \ --with-amandahosts \ --with-user=amanda \ --with-group=disk \ --with-gnutar=/bin/tar \ --disable-libtool \ --disable-shared \ --disable-static So, smbclient is defined. My next step is to rebuild amanda RPM from the source supplied in SuSE 7.3. When I look at the strings in amandad I can see: defs: DEFAULT_SERVER="localhost" DEFAULT_CONFIG="DailySet1" listed_incr_dir="/var/lib/amanda/gnutar-lists" UNCOMPRESS_PATH="/bin/gzip" MAILER="/usr/bin/Mail" GNUTAR="/bin/tar" COMPRESS_PATH="/bin/gzip" RDEV_PREFIX="/dev/" SAMBA_CLIENT="/usr/bin/smbclient" CONFIG_DIR="/etc/amanda" DEV_PREFIX="/dev/" AMANDA_TMPDIR="/tmp/amanda" AMANDA_DBGDIR="/tmp/amanda" libexecdir="/usr/lib/amanda" mandir="/usr/share/man" paths: bindir="/usr/bin" sbindir="/usr/sbin" CC="gcc" BUILT_MACH="Linux fizia 2.4.16-4GB #1 Wed Dec 5 16:49:17 GMT 2001 i586 unknown" BUILT_DATE="Sun Feb 17 00:00:13 PST 2002" build: VERSION="Amanda-2.4.2p2" SAMBA_CLIENT is there. That means that amanda binary RPM in SuSE 7.3 does not correspond to the source RPM supplied with distro. How come? My next logical question is what other RPMs in 7.3 do not correspond to source RPMs (read: built from other sources than supplied with 7.3 Pro)? It's very strange. -Kastus
