Fact is that I need my second serial port for my UPS. So where does that leave me? As the floppies are not used that regular (anymore) could I put my USP on the irq 9?
I would rather keep serial port irq's for serial ports, if they are needed, as then there is no need to hassle with setserial and so on. If you don't need the 1st printer port, that leaves you irq 7, too. --Jyry C:-( C:-/ C========8-O C8-/ C:-(

Ihave some problems with deciding which irq to use for my ethernet card. Possibilities given as a choice include 3,5,9,10,11,12 and 15. At the moment, before installing the ethernet card, 3 is taken by a serial port, 5 by usb-uhci, 9 is not mentioned on this place but somewhere it says it is a bridge, 10 is my soundcard, 11 is my TV card and 15 is ide1. My question is, could I put the ethernet card on irq 9? Or should I put my serial port which is used for an UPS on another irq? In that case, which one?
Hello
Irq 9 is linked to irq 2 that is floppy drive.
I always set irq 3,4,7,2/9 used by ISA to avoid problems and it ha worked fine for me. If you don't need the other serial port, then disable it and use it's irq (3 or 4) for you eth card.
