This is very weird. I am using ReiserFS 3.5 with resiserfstool 3.6 and raidtool2. The file size limit is 2GB. According to the FAQ, the file size limit on 3.5 should be 4GB. :-(
The limit really seems to be 2 GiB on the x86 architecture for 3.5 (standard SuSE kernel). I've got # dd if=/dev/zero of=big count=1 obs=1k seek=3000000 dd: advancing past 3072000000 bytes in output file `big': File too large on SuSE 7.2 (2.4.4-4GB). It works for the ext2 on 2.4.16-64GB-SMP: $ dd if=/dev/zero of=big count=1 obs=1k seek=3000000 1+0 records in 0+1 records out $ ls -lh big -rw-r--r-- 1 malusek malusek 2.9G Jan 2 11:50 big I don't know why the FAQ mentions 4 GiB. Anyway, have you tried 3.6? -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
