I've noticed that every meaningful reply to this message has suggested using SAMBA on the server side and TCP/IP on th client side. Has anyone considered using Novell/IPX, which has lower overhead for the client and similar performance?
If you use the Novell/IPX solution on the MS-DOS side then you need something that provides file services on the Linux side. It's the marsnwe Novell netware emulator I've already mentioned. The whole setup may be difficult for people who have no experience with Novell networks. Therefore I didn't write more about the IPX based solution. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
