I am attempting to start using Nedit 5.1 (as supplied w/ SuSE 7.3) and 5.2 (binary d/l'd and unpacked in /usr/local) which has support for my scroll mouse (cool!).
The one stumbling block I'm running into so far is that in neither version will the menu hotkeys work. i.e. stuff like 'Alt+f' to open the _F_ile menu don't work. Things like 'Cntrl+f' work, for a 'Find' dialog, work fine, though.
Your alt-f is trapped and used by your window manager, which means nedit will never see it. You will have to tell your window manager not to use it and to hand it straight through instead. I can't tell you how to do that. It works with the KDE desktop supplied with 7.3.
Another point : Nedit is built with motif, which doesn't like the numlock key being on. Set it off and watch <Ctrl><S> (and others) start to work. -- ~adj~ Ces mystères nous dépassent Feignons d'en être l'organisateur...
