Hi: I downloaded freefont and sharefont .tar.gz. I opened mc, and moved them to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont and sharefont, extracted them.
Then I ran as user: xset fp+ /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont and sharefont commands xset fp rehash
This enabled me to see them with Gimp. By now, KDE was gummed up, so, logged out and back in, and now all I have is the d&^%*( directories sitting in the fonts, but can't see them from Gimp.
I go to XF86Config and add Fontpath for them, and run SuSEconfig, and still no luck. Does anyone know what needs to be for SuSE fontserver to include them? Thanks, Tom
I also have an issue with free/sharefont. It seems that every time SuSEconfig is ran, it manage to screw up the fonts.dir. What I did was to reinstall the free/sharefont dirs from the tarballs and make a backup of each fonts.dir (/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/freefont/fonts.dir) files and then restore them each time I run YaST/SuSEconfig.
Regards...
